the hex on the nut is 5/16 , but the threads on my se rods are 3/8-24 while a 5/16 fine bolt may have 24 threads per in the diameter is wrong. so I took a hardened 5/16 nut had access to a lathe at work drilled out to tap size for 3/8-24 and ran the tap threw it. new nuts same size as the original crappy ones. not sure if using a real 3/8-24 nut would clear the tubes, or the extra weight of the bigger nut would cause momentum problems or not , the originals are so frigging light im guessing they are magnesium
drill for 3/8-24 is a Q .332 closet regular drill to that is 21/64 at .3281 almost .004 smaller than required the trick is getting the hole true and square tapping the threads
Yes I hand drilled and tapped (for 3/8)a few 5/16 nuts and it is not easy at all
I cant believe we cant just order them\
But
I believe the regular 3/8 -24 nuts would clear the Tubes
but I havent tried it
I may sell the set of SE Push rods I have and just buy S and S quickies from now on
