Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I have researched this to no end and it looks like about $700 to get rid of the spring ten. I just pulled my cover and the tensioners still look great, now do I tear a completely good running no leaking motor down and spend $1500 on a big bore/cam change or put a set of nice bolt in cams for $300.and spend the rest on whiskey and hookers. Just had another idea can a guy run the 07 newer cam plate in the older TC??
I would do the cam install along with the new B148 Timken inner cam bearings and Baisley spring. You can keep the 88" pistons and jugs and remove the heads and at least get the heads decked and cc'd ($100)to maximize the cam. You can re-use your stock push rods which will save you the cost of adjustables, $150-$200.If you can afford another $300, get the BigBoyz street port on the heads.
Well thanks for all the info,I checked my tensioners and they are in great shape got a big swap meet to go to this weekend so who knows what I might find.Maybe a nice set of gear drives and cam plate

I was thinking about going gear drive on mine, and since I need to peek in and check on my tensioners I figure I'll check my run out...but I cant remember if its with the cam plate on or off.....because if its with it off I might as well wait till I get ready to change out my tensioners....
