Thanks for the recommendation on gaskets, long as Cometic has rubber for the rocker boxes im good using them.
Mileage on the bike when I got it in May showed 9000 on the odometer and PO assured me it was accurate, I have 13400 on it now. Had a local indy check it over the day I bought it and said the bike is super clean and thinks millage is probably legit. Only thing I know for a fact is I called S&S and the bottom end did come out of there facility in late 95. Besides having to replace the ignition the bike has run flawless. I just road 2 up with the wife and all of our gear over 800 miles in two days climbing through the mountains to the coast and back and never a hick up, burned through a quart of oil though. I've read about noise and vibration from other evo's but mines super smooth and no noise at all.
Thanks for the info bagger. I posted the pics so I could possibly get educated a bit on what im looking at and what might have caused my problems. THis way at least id have an idea what to expect when the parts get dropped off at the machine shop.
One of the cylinders shows scuffing from the piston, main reasons for a failure like this is heat. Need to make sure your air/fuel mixture is good with the new engine, slightly lean conditions can cause the issues pictured so know that jetting when putting it back together with a new bore.

Thanks again for the advice bagger. Once its back together im taking it in for a Dyno/Tune to make sure its set up correctly. Talked to machine shop today and hope to get everything to him next week.
I have a couple threads going since this one was started asking for advice. Thanks to everyone here who has helped me out with my bike, you all are great and make things so much easier. Thought id update this and post my progress with what I've decided to do on the build. Also wanted to update with what we found the problem to be.
I ended up finding a place called Freeman Choppers in Chico, only an hour drive for me. These guys are great and do everything in house including dyno so real glad I found them. He suggested I run 10:1 Wiseco forged pistons with my EV46 cam, go through the heads and Cometic gasket kit. Cylinders were actually in decent shape and he only has to go .05 over on them. Heads.....not so much. This is were my main problem was. He said that the spring retainers were coming loose actually destroying the valve seals and basically pumping oil out my exhaust, hope I explained that right? He ended up installing a set of PSI? (think thats what he said) valve springs and going through the heads. Im taking the bike down to him on Saturday to have him look at the bottom end before I put it back together just for piece of mind. Then im gonna have them dyno tune it after I get it broke in.

Sounds like he has a formula he has used before.
You ought to be real happy when your done.
Thanks for the link. Cant say it didnt cross my mind with the base gasket. I assume what your saying is it would be best to pull the whole top end and replace all gaskets?
also something to watch out for on my evo I dont wish any bad juju ut my head bolts stripped on my putting head back together
