just had the EV-27 installed friday, along with an S&S super E. went with S&S adjustable pushrods, S&S lifters, & Torrington bearing. rode just under 200 mi on it sat, could really feel the differance. she dyno'd in at 55.31 hp to 68.80, and 68.52 torque to 79.66. wasnt sure how much she would gain, but feel thats a good bump up. the only other thing done was the exhaust, which my grandson and i did together last summer. ive learned on here some of the setups you guys recomend, and am happy with it so far. you guys arent kidding when you say 'youll help me spend my money'
Mine is noisy and I don't like it, I'm trying to adjust my rods for the best spot.
I have read... if you want a noisy engine, install an ev27.
And others say they have one and it's quiet. So I guess normal.
Maybe it's the swap to adjustable rods, I'm curious how it would sound if I installed my Oem rods, but I only made one adjustment so far and got worse so definitely another is coming.
I've had an EV27 in mine since 1995 (or so). Yeah, there will be some noise from the rockers. Never tried to eliminate it, just adds to the whole Harley experience....
I'm at 75/80 with the EV27, Dyna2000, SuperTrapp slipons, and SE air cleaner. Stock (tuned) CV carb.
I put in the ev 3010 which I hear is similar to the 27...def a kick in the pants compared to the lame stock cam...by noise do you mean some ticking in the heads? is this do to the higher lift slamming back closed?

yea thats what it sounds like to me 'ticking in the heads'. to try and better explane it, i just went for a putt around the back roads here to have a listen. its mainley at 1800 rpms a light ticking. at 40 mph in 4th, im at 2000 rpm, when i ease off (to 1800) thats when you hear the ticking. if i keep backing off, it will quiet up, than give her more throttle and she ticks, even in 5th, same thing, youll here it tick at 1800. i dont remember it being that noticabe before.
