To be clear I am not the resident expert here.
Others are welcome to chime in.
I have worked on a lot of stuff and even worked in a Harley shop once.
It was in the day of the EVO, yes that long ago!
What I see is this, how do you clean the crap out after you ream it?
If you can, go for it......BUT I would pull the rocker boxes for an inspection.
Buy a new pump, and blow out push rods as a minimum.

Thanks again for all all your help. Ill keep you updated if you dont mind to keep up with your input.
Have at it...What can you lose?
Like I said check the other stuff in the rocker boxes too.
It will be simple with the engine in your lap.
We all do what we can for others......I hope to have steered you in the right direction.
Did you find any metal stuck to the breather gear or bore?
If not done, i would pull the cam and check the cam bearing. If its an Ina bearing then replace it. YD

there was only a few metal flakes / dust on the plastic breather and in the bore. Will check everything else once I get the engine out for sure.
As Yankee Dog stated, replace with a Torrington whilst there.
There are only a few places it can be shedding aluminum.
Bearing and bushings will leave steel or brass/bronz deposits.
So you are truly near the source -breather, or rocker box area.
Like I said-the plastic breather is FAMOUS for doing what was done there in your bike.
Being you have to make room to pull the pump by removing the engine, this makes it EZ to check most areas.
Keep us all posted.
We all want to learn.

will deffo keep you all posted step by step. Looks like I will have to send the cases off to a shop to get split unless its easy to do myself?
and also send them to a machine shop to machine out the breather bore. I looked at the price of the hand reamer and Its like Ł500 English pounds plus international postage. Thats crazy money.
