When you remove the bowl, was there a lot of gunk lining the bottom? This all needs to be removed. Q-tips work well here. Also, check the very end of your jet needle. It should look like this.

If the very tip looks like this, then replace it as ethanol laden fuel has eroded the fuel control orifice.

The "fuel line" replacement comment got me to thinking... If you find extra pieces there... like an inline fuel filter... Throw it as Far as you can, and carry on...

You definitely have funk in your carb and fuel line. Replace fuel line and take your carb and manifold off, replace inlet seals and go through the carb.
Follow Omaha’s advise and you will have the old girl running sweet.

Sorry folks, one next dummy question, cause i didnt receive my Clymer yet...

What's the pressure for those 2 screws that attach the air filter to the engine?
