picked up a 1989 FLHS, 34k miles wanted to know if anyone has done any upgrades
I'm looking at doing some suspension upgrades, specifically changing the swingarm over to bearings instead of the silcone bushings
Custom Cycle Engineering seems to have a good retrofit kit
Thanks

Oh boy have we done upgrades! I have done the CCE bearing upgrade. Well worth it. While you are back there, might as well do the shocks too. Let us know what your budget is and we will make recommendations.

Only a couple systems outperform the stock exhaust system [if ya open the mufflers up a bit] Thinderheader, and LSR comes to mind...
if that is a CV carb... only a K&N element can really improve that, if stockish engine!!!
These are are tough... Very Tough engines indeed... the MoCo Had to quit makin em... they have a Too Long Service life!!!!!
Beemervet what you do for shocks? Im going to lower it a bit do to my short legs, lol
I heard mixed things about using brackets to lower the back end.. up front Im looking at the Progressive monotube cartridge system
my budget is kind of open.. im not in a rush cause i have my FLSTS to cruise around on

I have a 05 Road King Custom that I put 11.5" Progressive 412 shocks. The bike originaly had 12.5" Air Shocks from the factory. I usually ride 1 up and on occasion I'll ride a lady friend. I've yet to bottom the shocks out and I weigh around 200. These shocks have worked well for me and were not too terribaly expensive.
