Default Lifter pumping up

Guys, my new stock 80" Evo engine has Mid-west lifters with stock push rods and Woods-6 cam. If I let her sit for a week or on a long days ride with several stops, when I go to start her, the front exhaust lifter is making a racket (valve train noise) for about a minute until it is pumped up again. Is this going to hurt anything? Mr. Too lazy to fix this right now.

Might be a bad lifter from the get go. Keep tabs on it.

Thanks. I'm riding from Phoenix to Houston next month, so I'll have lots of time to keep an eye on it. Haha....

I'll sound like a broken record on this, but....
I spoke with Mr. Bob Wood over the phone. He said that yes the W6 is considered a drop-in cam but it is not truly. He said to me to use adjustable pushrods or NOT to call him about a noisy drivetrain. I was changing base gaskets so I upgraded an ev23 that was in there already. The W6 is certainly noisy but what it is not is a simple drop-in.

Call him directly, he'll answer the phone!

Lifters will bleed down after a while. That's why it's always a good thing to let it warm up... install adjustable pushrods as Tee&Vee suggested and set the preload to .130"-.140"... And on an all stock Evo the W6 is not a great choice. That cam prefers 10.0:1 comp... 8.5:1 will make it a real dog on bottom..

One other thing, if it starts to bleed down to quickly you might want to consider S&S lifters..
