It looks to be the same size as the 7/16" bolts that goes in the rocker section. So I dont know if someone dropped on and is stupid enough to just leave it there or what. But let's be honest how do you not see the bolt laying in there.
Got ahold of Barnett today to figure out the cost of cables. Since stock cables are good for up to 10" apes, I figured I would go +10" on my cables. I was close in price guess at around 300. Now it's time to decide if I want to go with the black vinyl for $338.47 plus tax & shipping or stainless for $370.72 plus tax & shipping. Learning more towards the black just to stay closer to by price guess since I'm already going over budget lol. Any outside input is always welcome never changed cables before so I dont know if other then appearance if the stainless is that much better
Stainless brake lines offer an improvement over rubber. Once you do that everything else might as well be stainless. See how easy that is?
I'm still trying to figure out why you think you need +10" cables.
oh sorry I forgot to put that I have 18" bars on it now. So i might of been able to get away with +8" but I'd rather have a little more then a little less. Plus I might change to 20s down the road. I feel like 18s are a little short still but I'm tall and lanky with monkey arms so.
Today I pulled the rear head and jug off. Luckily no surprises in this one. So now its get them boxed up and shipped out to hillside. Cant wait to get them back and installed. I also pulled out the cam. The only marking I find on it is either a "v" or a "n" stamped on the last cam lob. Would it be safe to assume that this is a stock cam?
All right so I I got the oil pump build off as well tonight. Got to stop the sumping. It's terrible that it's already sumping if I dont start it in a week. I'll run it through the ultra sonic a few times to try to get all the old oil and debris out of it. I'm going to use a check ball and some lapping compound to help it seat better as well a new spring. Can I use a slightly heavier spring to help it not sump?
Ok I need some guidance. I measured lift on my cam to see where it was at and if I could figure out what it was. With some research I found out the rocker arm ratio is 1.625. So I measured the base and got 1.072" as shown in pic below. From there I zeroed out and measured the lobe. I got .281 also shown in picture below. So now we take .281x1.625=.456625 for lift. The closest I found was a sifton 145 ez at. 460 for lift. Any idea on what it is? Only mark on it that I can find is the "v" stamp on the last lobe, furthest away from the cam gear.
Slowly making progress. I ended up cancelling my order for the service manual May 20th that I ordered april 20th. The parts guy understood my frustration as he was frustrated with the situation as well. I got the oil pump back to flat. Theres still on side on the gear housing I need to work at a little more. Intake was also sanded back to flat and then I painted it a matte black. Also did the rear of the carb where attached to the manifold. They all had a decent warp in them which I expected. Today I I decided that if I'm sticking this much into it I really need to pull the guts out and do it right. So I decided I'll pull the primary cover. Holy burnt oil, that smell never gets better. Also found what looks to be pieces of a needle bearing, about a pound of metal sludge in the bottom. Also have wear grooves in the pressure plate. So I'm glad I decided not to get it done before the wedding in 2 weeks.
