Well, tomorrow or Tuesday (depending on my schedule) I should have the time to see if the bike runs. Hit the starter with everything together and the motor turns over fine.
Last question, for now anyway. The owner's manual states the primary for FLT models takes 38-44 oz of fluid. The service manual has a diagram of where the fluid sits with the bike startight up.
Where mine sits...
The service manual has this pic of the correct level.
Below the information on the amount of lubricant required is this information in the owner's handbook
Reason for the inquiry is that I have already added 44 oz of fluid. It is just at the bottom of the spring plate. If I add anymore I am over the recommended amount.
Don't want to overfill but I just need to know if what I have in there is sufficient and meets the criteria.
Finally got the time to get bike running today for the first start (second will come tomorrow). Started without any problems. Only issue is that the bike will only run with the choke in the full up position(S&S Super E). My hope is that it is the idle adjustment screw cuz I can't fine tune it until I get that settled. And didn't have time to go any further because I promised the wife I'd bbq some beef satay.
I do love the smell and sound of a freshly assmbled motor tho.
Thanks to all for the input of information and sugesstions to get to this point.
And just a general question. Are these models made to run on 87 octane or should I stick to 92 proof like I do on my Pans and Shovels?
Bike looks like new, nice!
Probably just adjustments, it'll need some throttle to idle cold, if you set idle speed cold, it'll be too high when warmed up.
So...went out to see exactly how I access the idle speed adjutment screw. Idle mixture screw, not a problem; accelerator adjustrment screw, not a problem; idle speed adjustment screw....now that's a problem. How do I access the secrew. The breather hose for the carb backing plate cuts right across the top. Additionally, the stock gas tank prevents me from using a normal long thin bladed screwdriver.
I assume I will need some type of automotive screwdriver with an adjustable shaft.
Recommendations please.

That make an extension screw, if that wont work, after a ride with bike/engine warm, Remove or move the breather hose, start engine, wait a minute or two, adjust to correct speed, shut down and reinstall.
Once set, idle speed never really changes all that much.
