If you pull the tappet screen and crank it and no oil comes out, it's not pumping. If the pump gears looked OK and not free wheeling (broken key) then oil feed from the tank?

Yeah, if the feed line is flowing, not restricted,
nothing left to do but plan on the cam cover coming off. ☹️

Overnight oil has appeared where the oil pressure switch was taken out.

With that hole plugged with the broken switch I took out the oil screen, and briefly started the engine (about 10 seconds)
No extra oil appeared there. The only oil was what I put down there yesterday.

I took off the oil feed pipe, and oil came out.....but not as fast as I expected. Slightly faster to start with then slowed down to a continuous trickle.
The oil is cold....it's a 20/50.
I took off the drain plug and it came out faster.....but didn't pour out (The oil is usually hot when I do this and it comes out fast)

My next plan is to drain the oil tank so I can take off the oil feed pipe, then put a new pipe (if I have one to fit) with a funnel on the end. If I put oil in the funnel and start the engine, I can see if oil come out where the screen should be.....and also see if the oil level goes down. this should eliminate the oil tank and feed pipe if still nothing.

I noticed a plug on the oil cover and wondered what it is for? On the diagram it's not described.

At this point with the oil pump cover off, disconnect the 12v power feed to the coil and hit the starter button to see if the Gyrators in the oil pump are spinning or simply put it in 5th gear pull the plugs and have someone spin the rear tire.. If they are spinning I would think there is a blockage in the oil tank or feed line to the pump... If not your going to have to pull the cam cover and have a look...

Well I tried the oil in funnel, didn't make a difference.....so assume it is probably the pump?

I did put extra oil in where the screen goes, and the level did drop about 1/4".

So back off with exhaust and pump cover.

With the funnel arrangement empty and and cover in place, remove the plug #17 and spring and ball under it. May have to remove the hose above it, it's just a vent. Takes a small magnet to get the ball out, if you don't have, just leave it.

Put a small amount of oil in the funnel. It WILL come out that port. When it does, the pump (gears) are fully primed. Replace the ball, spring, and plug then add oil to the funnel and turn it over again, see what happens.

Had this issue on my shovel. Found the oil feed line from tank to pump, disconnected it at the pump and had a very slow, small stream of oil (cold). Held it above seat level while I cleaned it off and then blew into the hose. Took a minute to build pressure and unplug the feed line at the fitting on the bottom of the tank turned out to be a few bugs and crud. Not sure how they got in thier. Just a thought KISS.

Took the exhaust off to get better access.

Removed plug and spring. this area was full of oil.
Removed the ball bearing, and the oil disappeared.
Added the funnel with oil. The oil level went down quite a bit (small funnel)....then stopped.
No oil came out where the ball bearing was.
Put it all back and turned the engine over.....nothing.
