Probably nothing other than normal wear. It looks like it's just the fuzzy type which could be wear from the compensator. Can you rub it between your fingers like it's dust?
That said, I'd check the inner primary and clutch hub bearings while things are apart. Also check the compensator ramps for excessive wear, but the comp in the EVO motors are fairly bullet proof.
What bike, since it could be normal, or if you have a spring plate in the clutch (AK grenade plate), could be the spring plate has starting to come apart, and the shavings you are seeing is from the steel clutch basket being groove.
So on that note, would pull the clutch apart to check its parts. If you do have a spring plate in play, and any of the brass rivets are busted, then replace the spring plate.

97 WG and this was replaced ~ 5 years ago due to what happened in your picture.

Yes, very soft. I'll check the compensator when it gets pulled apart this weekend.
Draining my primary (97 WG) on my way to replacing the quad seal that I believe is leaking.
I noted these shavings on the primary plug - what issue(s) am I looking at here?
That is a bit more than I would like to see.
However if there are no chunks of metal in it just the little fibers ____ How long has it been since a service was done.
If I saw that much a second time I.d be cking somethings out
Just need to closely inspect everything you are removing for the quad seal change out. Curious why you think your quad seal is leaking vs the other seals in the trans?

Guessing based on location after I cleaned up underneath the oil pan and replaced a clamp on an oil line and my breather lines. Bike was up on jack and didn't leak like it did unless running or leaning on the jackstand.

Agree. Color on mine didn't seem unusual. I do run sythetic Valvoline ATF fluid.
