Default Jiffystand interchangeable?

On my constant search to eliminate rattles and clunks, I've noticed that my jiffystand is bouncing off the frame. Does the later models with the rubber bumper just bolt in?

I guess I thought the "bumper" was mounted to the Frame??
FWIW, that cheezy Rubber Bumper on the Frame of FXR's is Crap..An appropriate sized piece Rubber Hose.. on the "rub/hit" portion of the Stand itself is My (hickerbilly) solution..

The factory bumper locks the jiffy stand in place when up and it absolutely will not rattle or fall down. I'll have to lay down and measure the exact placement on mine to make it work like it should. It doesn't sit on the frame like you'd think it would. Actually it DOES clamp on the frame, just not like the parts book shows it. I'll try to get a photo and measurement tomorrow.

Still available part# 50059-85A less than $20. at a dealer.

Try the piece of Hose around the Stand, and a Much Stronger Spring...Works for me..
but,...the configuration of the stand itself, dictates that it is the very First Thing that drags the asphalt!!!
Grind 'er Down...All Good!!!!

NOTE - the part number and info I've given applies only to the FLH/T (Touring) frames.

The parts books shows it installed like the first photo I posted (?) Here is how mine has been since 1989 (it's an '87) when it got knocked off with a jack. I'd never seen it before that and this is the only way I could get it to work so who knows... It's been right there thru numerous engine and primary R&Rs and never given issue. If anyone has a different install position, I'd be grateful to hear/see it.

Measuring from the jiffy stand as shown, it's exactly 11 inches to the front side of the rubber. When you move the stand up, give it a nudge up/in with you heel and it'll lock it right there.
