i can't wait to see this dresser with a 3.5 open primary. Never seen one . will you have to take the gear set out of the case to install in your case ? The belt, i am afraid will be too long for your set up but i am probably wrong. I am thinking it was bought for a softail. i have not seen anything fron Jerih for a dresser.
Hey guys, Im also looking at putting either a 107 or 113 in my 1990 Softail. I am also going to stick in a 6 speed Ultima tranny while I have it all torn a part. I think there are over 33 pages on this thread (good info), but I might have some of the names mixed up. I think it was Goat who had a lifter problem. How did you figure out it was the lifter and is that sorta common on the high lift cam (I think the the number is .625" lift). I'm not sure if it was Goat again with an ignition problem. What I can tell is that most guys are satisfied with Ultima, and just wondering if any of these problems common?
Put,
I had a tick in the top end that was not the same as the clanging noise that was there. Had my friend take it a part and moved the tire slow and the lifter dropped off and did not travel the way the front did. Replaced the front 2 lifters and problem solved. Ignition problem was easy as the bike started so easy and then all of a sudden I had to fight with it to get it running. Also I had pinging bad and had retarded the timing to fix the issue and then it got worse. Good thing was that Ultima stood behind it. I am suprised at the lifter but just glad I decided to tear into it and found an issue. I think the ignition problem is common and the lifter is a fluke.
2 into 1 should be hear tomorrow and I can't wait to see what more this motor has got. : )
Paco-
Have you seen any open primary for a bagger? You are right, this is for a softail, so I am not sure it will fit without a ton of mods. I will let you know.
Ok, I made some phone calls and I am learning as I go along. I have been told that due to the distance the Ultima primary will not work. Primo makes one for 2K. Little pricey for me. I will check a little more to see what needs to happen...
Wowzers (is that a word). I received everything in the mail. It is all in supreme (new) shape. All plastic still in place and all. Couple of problems though. All the hardware is in one big mess. This ought to be fun. Second the transmission is RSD! Ahhhh! It was recently purchased from Jireh so I called them up and they are going to make an exchange on my behalf. Kudos to Jireh! I think what I am going to do is sell the primary on eBay (unless you know someone in need of a primary for very cheap) and put it towards a very nice clutch set up that can handle this. Maybe even a belt internal primary set up. Not sure yet. But I know the clutch will need to be changed for the power of this thing.
Jerih has always done me right. anyway, this is just a suggestion and only a suggestion. I would pull the motor on my bike and install the 127 " get the tranny and motor tied together. Unless you got just the gear set from Jerih in exchange, you will have to pull the gearset out of the softail case, pull the large bearing from the st case. Pull the gear set from your dresser and install the 6 sp gear set and bearing. If you need the instructions let me know i have them on my computer somewhere. Put everything back like it was, get you a rivera pro clutch and install. put your primary cover back on and RIDE. just my humble suggestion.
