Thanks, I did turn in the fitting for lower oil port as tight as possible, any more and I know it will break. At first, I thought it was worse when riding 2 up and during breaking, but it did not matter if I used the front or rear break. It seemed to be more related to slowing down and the weight shifting front - first thoughts were the front engine mount. After looking at the bottom port fitting , it did look too close and may still be a little too close. However, I did not file the mounting bracket that is welded to the frame, another 1/8 inch clearance would certainly help.
I did install a new multipiece, "Velva Ride?" type front engine mount when I installed the engine, maybe I would do better to go back to the stock type mount, perhaps the single piece type mount is a little stiffer. At idle it feels like the old engine did when it was getting hot and not running quite right, just shakes a bit more, but once its moving it smooths out and is running pretty damn good, still haven't run it much past 3500 rpms to know what will happen at the top end.
When I first noticed the increased vibration which was more intense at idle, I tried changing plugs because it kinda reminded me that a plug was going bad. I later checked the manifold bolts to make sure they were still tight.
I believe it is going to be something simple that I overlooked...
I am back guys and mid way into the tear out. Sorry I have been away for so long, but now I need to delve into some of your knowledge. The old engine and tranny are out. Paco, I made the mistake of buying a complete tranny from Jireh, not the kit. I am so stupid that I didn't look that the tranny is built into the oil tank. Anyway, question is, can I just swap the gears out from the utima tranny and put them in the harley case, kinda like using it as a kit? I hope so. I have some pics I will upload of the bike tore apart.
Yes you can swap out everything, then you will have a 5-speed you can sell. You might want to drop the oil pan and clean it out, you might be surprised what you can find in there. This would also be a good time to put in fresh oil lines. Hope this helps.
Yep, I am putting on braided oil lines, and I am definitely changing the gaskets on this pig. My bike was marking its territory everywhere it went. Thanks a ton. I really appreciate it!
The guys that are helping me, Chrome Daddy Customs in Baraboo, are going to do that tomorrow. Small shop with some really cool guys. I will let you know how it all turns out.

Welcome back Will and thanks for your time served. As miacycles said you can swap out all the internals and still have a 5 speed softail tranny to sell. I think you will be happy. was your bike carbed or EFI ?
I have just bought a 95 ultra with a lot of damage. I am thinking maybe a 120 " for this bike. its has an early efi fuel system that i want to change to carb. I don't know what all i will have to change as far as the ecm and stuff. help me out wmattert, mia - any one ?
Mine had EFI on it as well. I am just using the carb that comes with the Ultima. The guys at Midwest says that it will work fine this way. As far as continuing to use the EFI, I have no idea. I am sure it would be some major reprogramming.
Gut the tank, get the adapter for the petcock, use the ignition that comes with the engine and you should be good to go. The ECM controls the EFI and that wont be there so it shouldnt be a problem. We haven't done one yet, but it doesn't seem like rocket science.
