So you do need to gut the tank though?

What controls the cruise control? Is that the ECM as well? I was told that it would still work like original with the engine/carb combo...

Will,

I don't know but I haven't tried to come up with a way to use my cruise on this mikuni.

Miacycles, i didn't think it was rocket science either, but the fellows at HD tried to make out like it would be so complicated and sh*t. I will try it. I have a tank that came off a carbed bike so it will just be a swap out. I have a stock ignition and pickup and coil extra also.

Thanks guys for the info.
later.............

Default Gutting tank

Yeah, I don't have the luxury of a second tank, nor do I want to invest in another custom paint job, so I am going to have "gut" the tank. What does this involve besides throwing some petcocks in the tanks. What do I have to remove. Thanks everyone!

You need to disconnect the line coming from the fuel pump and either remove the pump or disconnect the power to it. When you install a petcock it would not be able to be installed as the screen would hit the fuel line hose. If you removed the screen then the fuel pump would put out more pressure than the float could stop. There are adapters to convert the EFI fitting to a standard HD petcock thread. From what I've been told it is all reversible. Hope this helps

One more thing, there is an electrical input on the top of one of the heads (middle of the rocker box, front one). The ultima does not have this. What is this and do I just tape it up and ignore it?

It is a sensor that the carbed engine doesn't need, just tape it up. What size engine do you have, what gearing , and what bike is it going in??

I have the 127 and it is going into a 97 Ultra Classic with standard gearing.

Default Cruise works on it.

Good news Paco. First off, you can keep your factory cruise. All you have to do is buy this adapter for the Mikuni carb. Here is a link.
http://www.mchitch.com/Mikuni_Cruise...ol_Adapter.htm
Next, I was able to score huge this morning on a Barnett Scorpion clutch kit on eBay. $255. Wow, brand new.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1114
Pretty lucky on that one. I have ordered everything to gut the tank as well, and a petcock. Should be done in a week. Anyone want an Evo motor? I hope I don't need it anymore!
