Hey Paco-
The tranny is a complete tranny. I will do as you suggest. Like I said before though, I am heading out for a 6 week hiatus to FL for military. I would haul the bike down as well but I have no place to put it to work on it. So in the end, this project is waiting till Nov 1 when I get back to WI. Besides, lifting an engine in and out of your frame by yourself doesn't sound like too much fun...Will
P.S. Primary is still for sale. I am asking 450 + shipping. It is brand new and they are going for over 900. Half price to the first taker!
What combo of jets are you running Classic? I will do everything by the book. I am hoping that the open primary still allows the footboard use.
On the 45mm mikuni I have a 160 main jet and a 30 low speed jet. In the package from ultima it came with a 185 and a 175 main jet which is too rich for where I live, going out to the coast I had to put in a 170 or it was too lean. Check out the HSR tuning manual at http://www.mikuni.com/pdf/hsr_tuningmanual_021003.pdf This will give you some great tips. I would start out with the 175 that is supplied and go from there make sure you don't put in the 160 right off the bat as if it's too lean for your engine it could cause damage during break in.
I'll give that a go. Until the end of Oct., everyone enjoy there rides. I'll be missing mine for the next 6 wks while on deployment. I've been putting on 200 miles a day this week. Weather has been beautiful in WI. First week of Nov. the eng. goes in!
Put,
I had a tick in the top end that was not the same as the clanging noise that was there. Had my friend take it a part and moved the tire slow and the lifter dropped off and did not travel the way the front did. Replaced the front 2 lifters and problem solved. Ignition problem was easy as the bike started so easy and then all of a sudden I had to fight with it to get it running. Also I had pinging bad and had retarded the timing to fix the issue and then it got worse. Good thing was that Ultima stood behind it. I am suprised at the lifter but just glad I decided to tear into it and found an issue. I think the ignition problem is common and the lifter is a fluke.
2 into 1 should be hear tomorrow and I can't wait to see what more this motor has got. : )
Look forward to seeing some pics of your upgrade.
I may have an ignition problem as the beast quit twice on me then after cooling off it starts right back up also it pings sometimes and not others, anyone try a different ignition than the ultima one?
I have a Crane HI4 that I used on my 110 sitting on the shelf, had some issues with it but it might be worth a try since I already have one. Or maybe give the S&S IST ignition another try, which is also on the shelf (beside the Crane).
I was running it in my 110 S&S and couldn't get it to stop pinging, if I backed the timing off enough to prevent the pre-ignition then it was too retarted at idle and would overheat. This was not the fault of the ignition but probably the 110 is over 11/1 compression, I even bought the S&S IST ignition and had the same problem with it. This was running 94 octane fuel with Polished and ported heads.
