FLT from `85 do or dont

A FLT from 85 is offered at a 12.500 us dollar, in the Netherlands \\;-)
The EVO engine has new metal breather valve.
The original carb is replaced by a CV. The kilometers are 62.000 or 38.500 miles.

What should I expect from this bike? Is it a good deal? Should I look further?

I don't know what Harley's go for in the Netherlands, but that would be way over priced in the US...

I agree that the price would be high if it was sold here.&nbsp\\;You could look at eBay and see what they are going for, but I understand there is a price premium over there.&nbsp\\;My 79 FLH went to .NL back in the late 80's.&nbsp\\;
Besides the price, that's a fine bike with low miles and once sorted, will probably give you less trouble than a 2008.

I have to agree with twowheelsforever regarding the price.&nbsp\\; Based on what your description the bike could fetch $9-$10 thousand (in U.S. dollars) provided the bike is in very good condition. What you should expect from the bike is a good, solid return on your investment.&nbsp\\; I've been riding my '85 FLTC over 15 years, with proper maintenance you should get many year's of enjoyment...not to mention it will be an antique in a few years.&nbsp\\; Word of caution, due to the age many parts are obsolete from the manufacture.

That's high, this would need to be an exceptional bike for this money. UK spec FLT would be no more the Â£3800 or $7600, you do see a lot of bikes advertised in the $10K range but to be realist these are the exception.

Look for a UK bike and come over, pickup and ride back.

Is that metal breather valve the replacement of the plastic breather gear inside the cone ? 85's were great motors alot faster than the later evos That price is too high

You've already been brought up to speed concerning price, so.... otherwise, excellent bike. Cv carb will get 10 - 20% better fuel mileage with correct tuning. The metal breather is no great selling feature. The original plastic ones will crack and break teeth off after a long time. Mine was missing 2 and I had not had&nbsp\\;problems with it. Replaced it with another plastic one. Other than typical maintenance, nothing to be scared about, really. Some parts are obsolete from HD though. mainly expensive engine internals (pinion shaft, flywheels some transmission parts and some cosmetic parts like radio, saddle bags, seat, fairing etc.) But other than most&nbsp\\;body parts, everything else is readily available through aftermarket sources. If you plan to keep it forever, I WOULD get the oil lines from the pump to the filter and tank to pump while HD still has them. They are only&nbsp\\;13.00 each&nbsp\\;(USD) and you can make the others out of lengths, but those 2 have a tight bend at the pump and are molded when manufactured and would be VERY difficult to replace without the correct part. (but they don't give trouble normally)
