Have heard/read about the vibration in the evo softails. I owned a 01 Sportster for a while. I'm trying to come to some decision on a Harley and keeping all options open due to budget. How does the vibration on the evo softail compare to my Sporty? About the same? Less? I really like the Fatboy but would not be able to afford a TC version. Have not had an opportunity to ride an evo.
ive owned two sportys and now a softail custom. id have to say the sporty has little more. figure that the sporty engine and transmission are one unit.
I have a 99 softail custom, The mirrors leave a little to be desired.... but other than that i don't see what all the fuss is about !! the performance and reliability are incredible. I'll never get rid of her!!!
I went from an 84 Iron Head Sporty to a 99 Softail Custom. The Sporty was a 4 speed, so at highway speed, it was running pretty high rpm, The Softail with the 5 speed is running much lower revs and seems much smoother to me. The Sporty was a spirited ride, where the Softail is a tractor. Lots of torque down low, even with drag pipes.
I don't have time on a Sporty but my 99 stock custom had no real vibration, the 94 I'm riding now has just a little mirror shake when you really get on it at high speeds. It's an individual type of thing, can't really say they all have it.
Hey 99softailcustom; For those of us who have one, we think it was the best bike Harley ever made. Yours looks really nice. They just feel right.
Thank you ! Yours is looking pretty good also ! I love 'em, I recently put in an Andrews ev46 cam and had it dyno tuned, picked up 12 ponies at the rear wheel.....What a difference! vibration?..... what vibration ! Thats HORSEPOWER my friend !!!!!! Have a MERRY CHRISTMAS !
