Default Speedometer & odometer QUIT

Hey fellow Evo riders,

I swapped out my bars this winter and had not ridden the thing for a month or so and then did not ride for a week or two after but the speedo is not working. I did not change the speedo cable and did not disconnect it either. What is working is the light but I think that it is just a bulb that sticks in there...

I guess my question is: is there a power requirement ?
I can see where the cable is connected, does this require lubrication?

yes... I have the Clymer's manual.

Worth adding, I changed the tires and the front races & bearings last Saturday so I checked the speedo connection and it was in good visual shape making good contact

thanks!

First thing you need to buy the factory manual it is 100% better than the Clymer one.

The factory manual says the speedo is a non-repairable unit.

About all you can do is check and make sure the cable spins and isn't broken or seized up inside.

Pizza I made for the mother in law. About the only thing she liked from me... it was a conquering moment.

Last year my buddies 86 broke a speedo cable while on a trip in the U.P. I would chech that out first.

I've gone through a lot of speedo cables and senders. Put the front end up in the air, disconnect the cable at the speedo, turn the wheel. Does the cable turn?

And buy the factory shop manual, if you plan on keeping the bike.
