nope that bushing is there, but as stated earlier i think the setup is off of a different year (late 90's ran the 102/10 setup) because the bushing is way to loose
Your starter clutch has let go, if the noise was coming from the ring/pinion area, you would have teeth missing. Been thru the broken teeth, failed starter clutch's and kick backs, horrible noise. Installed a AllsBalls starter, big cables, new battery that held up but eventually lowered the compression when having some head work done so you are on the right track by checking the starter.
Also note that the outer primary bushing holds that pinion against the ring gear so it is going to jump in the video when the primary is removed

My buddy has an s&s evo high compression motor in his 87 fxr and he had problem with it turning over but not grinding and he went to high output starter and although I could be wrong but I beleive he still has the staock 9 tooth jackshaft.
well i am about to pull the whole primary setup out to replace the jackshaft coupling to see if the other fits better than this one, and if it does, i will just replace the starter gear ( and some seals that where already leaking )
