Continued from my different plug post, problem continues. After I really jump on the gas, somedtimes it will pop, then run bad and miss.. After it does, I pull over, check it over, scratch my head, wait a bit, then it runs fine. It has done this like five times now. Plugs always look fine, it just gies away.. Could I juat be overheating it real fast? My dipstick thermo never gets above about 185, getting confused, thanks for your help.. Tim.. 1988 FLHS, Mikuni carb, s&s intake, slip ons, 32amp,
One possibility is your VOES. If the vacuum hose is not connected, or split, that sort of thing can happen. What ignition do you have? It is possible whoever installed the Mikuni left the VOES off, out of ignorance or innocence.
someone needs to explain these to me. Ive seen them on bikes, and on the wall at the local shops, but never quite knew the purpose. (although "gremlin" bell makes it a little more clear)

The Gremlin Bell is supposed to scare off the road Gremlins.
The road Gremlins are the ones who make things fall off your bike.
I had a similar issue that gave me fits. It turned out to be the ignition cam position sensor plate. The glue was all melted on it. I bought a new one and it has ran like a champ since. I even went so far as changing to another carb thinking it was fuel. Changed coil etc but it ended up being the plate.
