Oh yea, couple questions...will it be ok to start it with out the carb being jetted and most importantly..ONCE I get ready to hit the button, how do I set the timing??befor I took it apart,I marked where the timing was ,but I know all that changes now.Are these things like cars, does the cam have to be broken in?I know on cars, you take a chance of whipping out a cam lobe if you start it and don't let it run for a little bit

Slow down Joe, vital steps ahead! get some fuel on that carb before installing it, heat and pressure is needed to seat rings but excessive heat from being lean is another teardown. List your carb and ignition and let the Evo forum do their thing.

On the cam, as long as you have lube on it during install and engine is gettin oil at startup, it will be fine. If it isn't getting oil you will know because the lifters sound like a sewing machine.

Deep Breath's and set it up from the beginning and ride when it is right

Thanks Bagger!Carb is the stock one, I don't know if it was jetted or not.Ignition, I assume stock but maybe not,its got a quick detach cover for easy adjustment.there is some numbers on it with a sharpie marker, but I don't know if its stock or not.it will pull to 5500 and still not hit the rev limiter befor I took it apart if that helps. Now, I just set the pushrods, NEW lifters and they have been soaking for a week, But I set them at zero lash, and went 3 1/2 turns, BUT the pushrods are not tight?? Is it because they haven't been ran? Rev tech pushrods

Well, I made sure each lifter was at its lowest point, set the pushrod until it still turned freely by finger, THEN went 3 1/2 turns.Waited,I could turn the pushrods again, went to rotate to engine to do the other 2 pushrods, and something doesn't feel right so I stopped.Seems the lifters are to tight, maybe i'm just in panic mode???
