Whatever you've done to your motor I'm sure it's not a stock or close to stock EVO.
Since this woke up...... 1992 FLHTCU, 100, pretty much the limit. I have no idea what cam is in it now but I did put fresh stock compression pistons when I went through it a year ago. And I did change the back pulley to a 65 tooth.

The top speed of a motorcycle is directly related to the IQ of the person turning the throttle...the lower the IQ the faster the bike will go...

Maybe I'm just getting smarter with age, but I just don't have any interest in the fast stuff anymore.

The fastest bike I ever owned was a Suzuki DL-1000. That thing just had gobs and gobs of go in it. Easy, relaxed power, even at crazy speeds. I ran an hour straight at an indicated 120+ (which is probably 10% or so faster than actual) in Wyoming on that thing once. It never felt strained.

Back in the day, I had the chance on occasion to ride some truly fast bikes. Liter class sportbikes are in a class of their own. Just insane, and they have the chassis and riding position and suspension to deal with ridiculous speeds. When you're on a Hayabusa and it is still pulling ferociously through 150MPH, you know you're in a different world. Riding those things at anything like legal speed seems like a total waste of time.

I haven't found the top end on my recently rebuilt ElectraGlide yet. I've only got 300 miles on the motor, and want to give it more miles before really getting after it. I can tell, though, that she has a lot more left in her at 80 than she did before. The only thing I know about my Sportster is that she will go way faster than I want to. With the tall bars and upright position and lack of suspension, anything over 80 is too much of a thrill ride for me.

When I first got into Evos a few years ago, one of the things I liked most about them is the real-world performance envelope. I like the saying "Its more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow". That's me.

Then my IQ must have risen a bit as I used to go much faster in my youth....something about a GPZ-1100 at that time.

Now it's more about looking around and enjoying the ride.......

I personally will not doubt anyones claims to top speed. Built right these EVO motors can really put up some good numbers. In the attached video of a dyno run done up at Hillside Motorcycle and Machine (Scott) you will take note to my speedo (it's a Dakota Digital good to 140 mph) on a 5th gear pull we made. I believe it hit 145 mph. And note I still have another gear... 6th... I personally have hit 137 mph on the road in 5th gear... NOT BRAGGING>>> BUT it can be done... easily. you just need $$$ and a low IQ... LOL...

And as said.. As I get older my IQ is going up.... thank god...

My stock speedo, I spun it past 120 and once past it was erratic and bouncing, my GPS app said that it equaled 113
1/4 mile mph I can hit 106 in 1320 feet

I still got my '91 fxlr I bought new. I was 33 then. I DISTINCTLY remember having seen 120 on the speedo 4 or 5 times. Scarey as hell to think about it. Stock! My first HD was an 883 in 86. First year. Not a big performer, lol. That first year of the fxr, I went with 3 other dudes to a huge party here in Ohio. Called Wetzels. Seen **** I never seen, lol, that's another thread. One of those guys had a late 80s fxr with mikuni, cam, pipes. He couldn't hang with me when we split for home late sat nite. When we stopped at a stop sign he asked "wtf you done to that thing? I can't hang with ya!?". My bike was completely stock with slippers. Felt great for a newbie. Lol.

I have basic mods if it makes a diff. V&H pipes, KN air-filter, stock carb. 96'fxstc
*disclaimer* I dont normally travel at these speeds, but pulling out on to the hwy the other other day I had to get on her to beat the traffic.
Top speed? Eve a sick EVO can best 80. (Maybe not a deathly ill EVO, but a sick one just the same.)
If the stock carb isn't jetted, then about 110 is all you're gonna get. A jetted one should see a buck twenty. Give or take...

You gotta tach on that bike of yours?

I doubt if Buttercup my Buell Firebolt with 100HP will exceed 130mph and that is as skinny as a lath, compared with any big twin. What kills horse power and speed is drag, mostly wind resistance, so a static rolling road is no judge of what a bike and rider can actually achieve out in the real world.
