Crank case over pressure
How much oil is in the primary? Usually, it goes the other way when that seal is bad, that is, from the motor to the primary, which becomes overfull.
Is the breather timed correctly?
That bike has umbrella valves. I'm not sure what a failure in those would do for you, but I think it would mostly blow oil out the breather, not over pressure the oil tank.
Are the oil lines hooked up properly? Go through the lines in the book and compare.

Agreed - breather timing and oil line routing. How are you sucking oil from the primary into the engine? Did you replace your main crank seal behind the stator? That is the only way the primary oil can go into the motor and be scavenged up by the oil pump and pumped into your oil tank.
Yes the crank seal was replaced during the rebuild. I don't know anything about breather timing, will have to ask my mechanic. Looking like a partial tear down will be in order over the winter. Thanks for the info!
