Default Pulled cam out without aligning timing marks...

I pulled the nose cone off without taking the timing cover off. Well the cam pulled out with everything. I still need to drill the rivets and get the cam out of the nose cone. BUT..... obviously the timing marks weren't lined up. What do I do?

doesnt matter. cam gear and pinion gear have timing marks that force proper realignment.

cam came out because the rotor cup is screwed to the end of it. did you already have the lifters / lifter blocks out? (id be surprised if it pulled right out with lifters still in there)

Thanks Jasper, that helps. Nope lifters are still there. I ordered a 12pt socket for the lifter blocks from sears. My 1/4 box wrench is cracked too- so that's useless.

I did the same thing when I pulled my cam the first time. I had to clean everything up to see the "alignment dots." Consider putting in a new breather gear while your in there.

Not a problem, really, just turn the pinion shaft with a socket on the nut until the timing mark on the pinion gear is at 12 o'clock. reassemble the cam with its timing mark aligned with the pinion mark. The second mark on the cam aligns with the mark on the breather gear.

With the cam and pushrods out, the engine can be turned to your heart's content without hurting anything. The valves are held closed by the springs.
