Hey all I am in the middle of rebuilding my 99 Softail FXST. I went to put the inner primary back on the motor and transmission and realized the new starter shaft seal was to small, both where it slides Into the primary and for the starter shaft itself. The main seal, oring, and gasket in between primary inner and outer are correct. I ordered the kit direct from Cometic and hope somehow the wrong start shaft seal was sent.
I do not have the original seal because I sent the primary covers out for powder coating and they removed them....I never thought about aking them to save them.
My question is did HD have different starter shaft sizes which means the primary could be different too...any thoughts?
