I recently bought a 2017 FXDL. Me knowing nothing about motorcycles(i am a carpenter)I brought it to harley to try and get a new exhaust to make some more noise. I had the night stick installed. I was told I was limited on what i could use for an exhaust because it would void the warranty. However when I got home it wasn't as loud as I wanted it. I tried to take the end cap and baffle out and it was perfect sounding for me. however there was some back fire when down shifting. I tried using the pro street tuner and tuning it myself. But not having an understanding of how the device works, I could not figure it out. Is there a simpler way to get some more noise without having to tune it. or will a little back fire hurt the motor if i ride it without the baffle and end cap. any advice or links would be very helpful. If this post is in the wrong section please let me know..

Your first mistake was going to the dealer. I only go to the dealer with warranty issues. Your second mistake was getting the night stick exhaust which isn't too bad but it still has a catalytic converter inside. Dunno if it's in the pipe or the muffler section.
I suggest finding where the cat is and removing it. And then inquire if supertrapp discs and open end cap will fit your night stick muffler. That will enable you to adjust backpressure / noise.
On 2017 and new Harley's, if you remove the CAT, you will void your warranty. Leave the stock headpipes on, since you have the Screamin Eagle Street Tuner and I guess the cables, download the software from streetperformancetuner.harley-davidson.com, and also download software from https://tunemyharley.com. Read the How To information, and load the tune that closely matches what you've done.
