Default SE 95" kit

I have a 03 Road King and looking to put the 95" kit on it this winter. Everything that I see says that I have to run the cams that come with the kit. I do not want to run a chain driven cam. Does anyone know if I put a gear driven cam with a little bigger loab, will it jack anything up? I have a true dual set-up with wild pig slip-on's, stage 1 air cleaner and a Screaming Eagle race tuner installed.

Thanks
Chris

Default 95" Kit

Wiseco pistons with a good* set of heads, combined with a Bob Wood 6, and your t/body bored to 46.5 mm, should have you smiling, for sure.
Great power from off idle------5500.
Fuel economy is excellent.

I agree with hillside...Also do you understand that your pinion shaft cannot have more than three thousandths of an inch runout in order to run gear drive cams? Definitely have it checked before ordering gear drive

Gear drive will be fine with most any cam as long as pinion runout is less than .002, although some will say that less than .003 is acceptable. I dont know what kit you are looking at, but take the recommendations of reputable builders and only install components that are proven to work well will each other such as kits put together by HeadQuarters - http://www.head-quarters-usa.com

+1 for Head-Quarters.

Why buy SE mass-produced 95" cylinders that are often out of round? And a mass-produced piston that isn't matched to the off-the-shelf cylinders.

Have your cylinders custom bored and perfect piston fit as HQ does.

Or use the core charge procedure they offer--you will have have a professionally machined cylinder/piston fit.

Im a HQ guy as well, but just do anything but the SE kit!

anybody from the above will do you right, just have some OE barrels bored and have some good pistons thrown in for good measure, my choice would be C/P pistons, their engineers left JE to make a higher quaility product!

We use only CP pistons in our 98 inch kits. They make 6 versions of pistons for us currently. Working on a few more , 103 piston, and a 113 se piston.

The woods 8 cam is a very nice match for the 107 kit making great power even without high compression. No need for a ton of compression( his pipe choice is the tq dip issue)

The other is a build we did some time ago but you can see the increase from se products to nothing more than swapping in a woods 5 cam. heads where left as stock from SE

As stated i would stay away from the SE kits there are many other packages that will provide you with the power you are looking for. Good luck on the up coming build.

Our piston of choice here, for our 98", as well as the 107" drop-ons, is the J&E flavor.
They are supplied with Total Seal brand rings. (Not Total Seal rings, but their gapped rings)
Just did 2, 107", back/back, with OEM t/body and Rhinehart Duals.
In spite of the vivid short comings, of both of those components, they both spooled 105 plus hp and marked 120 plus ft/lbs, right where you want it, and striking big torque early, as well. Bob Wood 8 was the cam on board.

I will throw a plug in for GMR (hdwrench) he did a set of budget heads for me and excellent return for amount spent. With adrews 26's, SE flat tops, around 100tq, high 80's hp. And power is right where you want it.
