Heard differing opinions on this. I am looking at either the Screaming Eagle kit #25284-08 or the Andrews kit #216821 for my 2000 FLSTC. Any insights or recommendations.
Just repled to an earlier post in regards to this.
The Wood RCC-2 kit is a true roller link on both sides of the plate, vs the others have the silent on the inside, still.

Since you are looking at the 25284-08 kit, you have an earlier model but you didn't mention the year. That kit will work fine and you can retain your cams; just upgrade the inner cam bearings to Torrington B148s when you make the change.
The Andrews kit is MoCo parts which you can buy from a discount dealer for about $370 but you need conversion cams. This kit of parts includes the OEM cam plate and roller chains inside and out. The 25284-08 kit of parts includes a billet plate, outer roller chain and inner Morse chain like you have now; both kits use hydraulic tensioners. If your bike is 2001 or earlier and you convert to the "Andrews" kit, you will need rear can sprocket with ignition trigger; more $$.
The 25284-08 kit is cheaper, you are not limited in cam choices but you still get the benefit of the hydro tensioners, roller chain (outer only) and the upgraded oil pump. Plus you get the "trick" colored billet plate which, I have heard is good for 2.25HP!
I just had the SE upgrade kit done to my 01' Ultra after my tensioners took out everything in the cam chest. Along with new lifters, and now my engine is quieter than it has ever been. I now have a bit of rocker noise I can hear, but I'm very happy with the results.
I already have over 96k on the bike. If I can get another 100k out of the engine I would be sooooooooo happy! My engine was rebuilt at 67k. I've spent a ton of dough on this engine.
By the way, if you decide on the Andrews conversion, you can purchaes the chain sprocket with the cam sensor ridge on it. It is very expensive when you figure the conversion kit, cams ,and conversion sprocket for the cam sensor.
You can buy the conversions kit of parts from a discount dealer, like Zanotti's, for about $370. Don't know what the sprocket with trigger ring cost and cams will run $250-$350 depending on what/where you buy; cheaper if you find some on Ebay.
There are some deals that include the conversion kit of parts, cams and new inner cam bearings but I don't know the cost. Call John Wadsworth, AKA Herko for his package at 812 923-9027.
