No, you can't pull the plug back out, you'll.have to.get your oil.pressure reading elsewhere, and in a perfect world, you could try and drill a hole at the end of the crack to keep it from spreading, chad
the crack is a horseshoe starts on one side drops down and come back up to top in cime circle!!!there no end to drill to stop it the lip is about to break off,or the ear of it..Theres no way i can heli weld the plug in??

Springer, its awfully iffy, you don't wanna break that piece away from.the case if you say its u shaped, I might see if you could take it to a professional welder and see if he can build it up behind the crack, so you can screw that sender in past the crack ? Just a thought ?
that's what im thinking,,i'mgoing to put a plug in it and haveit welded up and see from there,,then see how it looks and feels about pulling pug out and putting sender back in or leaving it alone!! thank for the info!!

I have a 94 evo and unfortunately I had a similar crack... but mine went down in a line, and was definitely due to my putting in a gauge at that location and not being careful about over tightening. It is a common area for a crack. Mine did not pour oil out, but only weeped. I know I will get some flak on this but I used JB weld on the location after securing oil to that area, cleaning it very well, and then using the original sending unit back in the hole with a healthy dose of JB on the threads also. Has not leaked, but time will tell. I do want to mention to you that this area CAN be welded, and the previous suggestion of a plug there is valid. The problem though is that it takes a LOT of heat to get the area just ready for welding, let alone welding there.
