New cam will not start

Default New cam will not start

Hello I need some help ... I just installed reman heads and new piston rings and a new cam(se3). I also installed new rocker arm ,push rods,lifters, used all new gaskets ,o-rings, etc... I installed all parts put bike together and hit the start button .. no start I mean nothing . It just spins over and burps out the rear exhaust . The front jug seems like it has no fire at all . It started to blow oil out of the crankcase breather tube. I'm sure I installed everything correctly.. Man I need some help ! 1 more thing it seems like the front jug hasvery little compression ... thanks 1992 softail 80 evo stock except cam

Sounds like you have the cam timing off, did all the pushrods go in the correct place ?

Yes i put in order by color code .. I lined up all timing marks on pinion and breather gear . I COULD check the timing marks again

Maybe pull the plugs and while you turn the motor over put your finger over the spark plug hole, you should first feel suction than pressure, quite a bit actually.

Does sound like cams though.

I did that it was very weak not like it should be . I was talking to a dude he thinks maybe the rings could be the reason for the crankcase spitting oil out of the breather tube . I have heard if the jug doesnt have compression it will not fire ??

are the push rods adjustable? If they are and they are set to tight, the valves won't close and it won't build compression. I have read on these forums where people determine lash by turning the pushrod......that is the wrong way to go about it. Make sure the lifter is on the base circle, tighten the push rod till there is no lash, up/down movement, then tighten to spec. two and a half turns or what ever it is to center the plunger.

if you are sure the pushrods and the timing is correct check your compression. if it is weak, squirt some oil into both cylinders and hook the compression gauge and spin it over the pressure will come up if the rings have not sealed . if it does not change a valve is not closing.

THANKS DUDES.. Im gonna run a compression test tonight . I will get back to "ya'll"(texan for you all ) with what i find .. thanks again
