So finally got back to the “Head banging problem.
Put my hand over carb when trying to start.
It appeared to more outward pressure then inward suction.
Still pushing gas out of carb no matter how much I chock it, and carb bowl weeping gas out the vent hole.
Does anyone think this could be a carb issue or has had this happen to them???
You have a stuck valve — did you check the valve adjustment - one intake at full lift the other use the feeler gage - then switch to the one you just adjusted at full lift and adjust the other - check the exhaust the same way
if you find a big gap 1/4 inch then the valve is stuck open - if this is it - ask can explain what to do to get it to work
they will do this because no oil in and real volume getw to the valves and guides - but we have two things you can use
Well I replaced both intake and exhaust valves and springs. Only one guide was replaced, the others were good. As for the timing being out 180 degrees how does that happen?
I mean I was riding it before all this started and then it just stopped. But I’ll check again. I also replaced the points and condenser but who knows about these aftermarket items today!

Pull the plugs, open all 4 valve covers and give her a kick or two. Are all 4 of them moving? Five minutes to know for sure, good luck.
As I recall, there was a compression test performed previously and the numbers were adequate for that engine. So something has happened after it was starting and running properly.
Three bikes this week in my shop had bad fuel as the guy above said - drain the fuel and put in fresh
it seems the gas is going bad in a couple months and you dont know how old the fuel is that was delivered to the station - 81 million voted for this remember that
Curious to see if this is a fuel problem because we are running out of ideas.
Suggestion: Especially with an older bike like this, I would run non ethanol fuels from sealed containers as much as possible. Try to keep enough on hand for 3 months max because fuel does go stale. And if the bike sits for more than a month without riding it, be sure the tank is full so there is no air space above the fuel. Any air space above the fuel can condense and moisture will be absorbed by the ethanol in pump gas. And when you can't use non ethanol fuels, at least use top tier fuels that have additives that help stabilize the fuel longer.
If you are unfamiliar with the term "Top Tier fuels" google it because it is also important to modern fuel injected vehicles too.
