Back on topic, @Scottie p when it died, did it sputter and stall or shut off like you turned the key?

You cleaned the carb, but is there a possibility the float valve is sticking and not following the float? I don't know anything about Linkerts but I read they are pretty simple?

If you spray gas into the carb, can you raise the RPMs to get into a different carb circuit and run? Have you tried starting fluid?

Just throwing ideas out there, it seems like you covered the obvious pretty well. I was going to suggest valves but it looks like you went down that path already.

Be careful with starting fluid and Linkerts. I have done it in frustration but the old guys will tell stories of burning bikes to the ground that way. Just a heads up.

When this issue first started the bike just shut down like turning the key off.

I keep thinking it might be a carb issue, and to put that to the test I had another Linkert m88 totally rebuilt, so I installed another and same thing happened.

Im getting plenty of spark just no fuel to the plugs,
and what are the chances that two carbs are rebuilt wrong 🤪
I’ve rebuilt many carbs that are much bigger and more complicated, so yes very simple just can’t put my finger on the issue!!??

thanks for all the feed back.

Put you hand over the end of the carb and kick it if you palm is wet it’s working

if not check the valve adjustment tight will cause no suction

we have fixed more then one that the threaded nipples are leaking but your saying that you checked the intake for leaks - did you check the threaded in inserts into the heads as well is my question - no bubbles at the nuts is different then the nipples

for sure in 20 min in the shop we would know what causing this - but you need to go looking its something stupid as the system is very simple dont give up and dont start buying expensive parts

AND more then one today the points yea the points - getting one spark when opening the points is not telling you anything - the points today are garbage the tungsten is not longer applied to the contacts so - when they are when left alone and no one is looking will corrode and only spark just once that does not fit your explanation but its also a thing we find quite a bit - if you have a point file file them just because

Hey John thanks for all the great ideas.
I totally agree these bikes aren’t very complicated but yet my bike must be possessed . I totally restored the bike myself and know her inside and out, many great rides for 900 miles and then she just stopped.
Did the bubble test and sprayed down everything, nipples , nuts , heads with soapy water ( nothing ) tighter than a frogs butt.
For GP I installed new plus with new points and condenser! And yet nothing!
Ill give the hand over the carb a try to see what happens.
It could be my imagination but it appears that I’m getting pressure outward and nothing as in the way of suction inward.

If you changed the valve guides and did not run it with marvel Mistry oil in the fuel you might have a stuck valve - it happens
