Was up there 2 weeks ago. Somewhat hot in Rochester, NY in the morning and got to Old Orchard Beach in the afternoon. Awesome weather by collecting all the breeze off the ocean. Temp. was in the mid 80's, but doesn't feel like it. Drove on Route 1 all the way up to Bar Harbor. Beautiful and Scenic views everywhere.
For those who want to check out something unique up there. Visit Maine State Prison showroom. Prisoners carving wood out of just about anything you could think of. Well, This one is different. They carved the whole chopper with David Mann and a lady behind. Just awesome and unreal. I took several pixs where the warden walked into my face and said, "No pictures allowed."
Had a great time up there. Only saw 15 minutes of rain as the weather was gorgeous the whole time.
Seen the magnificent views of Mt. Battie at Camden State Park and Cadillac Mountain at Acadia National Park. Anyone who have doubts...Don't. Just go !!!.
Thorey
Sounds like a great trip! I'm still trying to find time to do the reverse - grew up just east of Rochester, and still have a bunch of family there. Did you come out I-90, or some other route? I'm partial to rte 7/9 from Troy through VT.
I did that trip a couple years ago, up 91 take rt2 then work your way up to Millinocket the take 11 north. We came back on rt 1 (zero mile) to Bar Harbor for a couple days then back to rt 2 to 91 south. Did 1700 that trip will do it again. The one with my arms out is on Rt 11 somewhere north of Millinocket
