No problem Huskers, but please check out this link. (It's the best we've got.)

https://www.nraila.org/articles/2015...transportation

FEDERAL LAW ON TRANSPORTATION OF FIREARMS

A provision of the federal law known as the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act, or FOPA, protects those who are transporting firearms for lawful purposes from local restrictions which would otherwise prohibit passage.

Under FOPA, notwithstanding any state or local law, a person is entitled to transport a firearm from any place where he or she may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he or she may lawfully possess and carry it, if the firearm is unloaded and locked out of reach. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded firearm must be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. Ammunition that is either locked out of reach in the trunk or in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console is also covered.

About 10 years ago, in Racine, a Black Man shot a Hispanic who was breaking into his car. And approached him with a tire iron. It was a clear case of self defense, but he was convicted. I don't remember what the exact charge was.

I think it is time to change the law to giving the victims the benefit of the doubt.

It will be interesting to see if this case is even mentioned in the Morning News shows. And I guarantee he won't get the coverage that Michael Brown got. It's sickening.
Sir, Governor Walker did change the laws In Wisconsin. Act 35 and he changed them in a very good way.

this just sucks. RIP Larry Weaver. Death to those who did it. The news report says they are looking for a third party.

The Castle Doctrine is a welcome change. But it doesn't apply outside the home. This poor bastard went to prison, because it doesn't.

Larry was attacked and killed. This wasn't your run of the mill thieves who normally scurry off when spotted.

There is a difference between coming out guns blazing and coming across your bike getting stolen and having the thieves attack you. You can't use your firearm to defend property in most states but you can use it to defend your life.

This is a very sad story and my prayers go out to Larry's family. I live in Missouri and I have ridden in and around the area where this happened. We have some other bad areas in Missouri where bad things can happen. I live in Sedalia and it is no longer the nice little town it use to be. Just last week we had a Murder and a shooting, I guess it's the times we live in. I feel so bad for Larry as he was at the age where you should be enjoying life. I'm sure he probably was enjoying life until those lowlifes took it from him. May Larry RIP.

Ron, the Castle Doctrine here in NC won't allow you to shoot at a fleeing suspect even when he's still in the house. Your link refers to fleeing suspects. Running away, they're no longer a threat.

But if you are in fear for your life, you can defend yourself with deadly force anywbere. It's an affirmative defense, and you may have to defend yourself in court, but the concept exists.

The problem is, unless you wait for them to shoot you first, the media will portray you as a racist vigilante. And the thieves will be portrayed as altar boys. Look what Cops who are doing their job are portrayed as.

And if the local DA doesn't charge you , the State or the Federal DOJ might. If Loretta Lynch isn't too busy meeting with Bill Clinton.

It's infuriating that good people, just minding their own business, and trying to enjoy their life a little, are sitting ducks for the scum of society. Who never contribute anything but take, take, take. Legally, and illegally.

I think we should have a Million Biker Larry Weaver Memorial Ride in Sikestown. I don't usually do group rides, but I would do that one.

I would assume that if asked, the victim would be happy to be finding a lawyer to defend his actions rather than where he is now.
