Help find Larry Weaver
Unless you have video or evidence to show Larry standing by innocently as he watch his beloved Harley getting ripped off, then was attacked and killed, that don't fly. Bullshit-
The thieves were in the middle of a bike theft. Period. That's what bike thieves do, steal bikes for easy cash. Not intentionally murder random people for nothing.
Larry instigated and escalated the altercation coming down running toward the thieves trying to stop them from stealing his beloved Harley (totally understandable and the laws SUCK!)-he was overcome and taken out and it makes me sick to think about it.
If he had a firearm, and initiated this confrontation, trying to stop them from stealing his bike, he is now the initiator of this conflict-not the scumbags...
During a scuffle, he is liable bring a FIREARM to this confrontation in a public area without probable cause (no one was coming into his home to harm him or his family and teing to protect them). Period, and he would be incarcerated and most likely sued for firing at the low lifes ripping off his INSURED piece or property.
Sucks, but that is how the law is written...
You've portrayed all kinds of scenarios whereby the perpetrators get off. You've stated - AS FACT - that they didn't intend to murder him. How the HELL do you know??? Do you have some pervasive insight to which no one else is privy? Give it a rest.
Here's another *proposed* scenario: I hear someone messing with my bike. I go outside to ask what's going on (no "guns blazing" mind you). One of the thieves comes at me with a knife. I will draw and down the son of a bitch - AND I'll be found not guilty, largely because I'll damn sure have an attorney that can properly interpret the law and defend me. Is this what occurred? Hell, I don't know. And neither do you!
The continuing (and increasing) notion that we must sit idly by and watch our world be swindled, torn down and burned is the real cancer. So far as I'm concerned, those of you who council to just let them take it and file your insurance claim are part of the problem, not the solution. It's time for everyone to take a stand, at the polls and elsewhere.

I know that after a long ride I am not possessed of an entirely clear mind. My judgement is not nearly as good as it will be the next morning. I think that's generally true, but believe me, it gets worse with age!
Larry was tired, he reacted... If he'd been rested and then awakened to see the same alarming sights and hear the same sounds...might he not have then reacted with better judgement?
I know myself - and I could go either way. I could stand and watch. I could run to stop it.
Carrying a gun may be a good idea, but it looks to me like it wouldn't have been much help in this case, probably cause a difference, but all the outcomes are bleak.
RIP Larry
I'm not into group rides, but I'd make an exception for one for Larry.
He was just a good and decent man enjoying life. Then this trash took his life, I just dont understand why.
I will pray for his family to have peace and closure and the scum responsible to rot in hell.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Save your bullshit arguments for the courtroom and show a little respect.
And I don't do much in the way of group rides. But I'd ride for Larry. Seems like a nice guy and obviously had good friends who cared. Let me know where and when, the sooner the better.
