DK - Thank you for sharing the pictures with us. It's plain to see Larry lived a rich life and had great friends. He was a lucky man. I know you and CSI were good friends to him.
I've ridden 123 many times. One of my favorite roads. I've even had the good fortune to enjoy with with fellow HDF members who I now consider good friends. And as mentioned, I get the strong feeling Larry and I have crossed paths. I'm told he and I have covered a lot of the same ground, so I wouldn't be surprised.
And yeah, it sucks that Larry won't ride that road ever again. I thought about that today. And I thought about that sticker that's being made to celebrate his life and I know the reason I like it. To me it captures his spirit (this, not knowing anything about him other than his smiling face and love of riding - all of which speaks volumes) it gives me hope that he's riding off the a better place not encumbered by earthly problems. He has smooth roads and a wind at his back. Someday, hopefully when we get to that place, Larry, and others we have lost will be there, and he'll say "glad you finally made it. Let's ride!"
And Charlie - thank you so much for your words of wisdom, encouragement, and prayer. I know it means a lot to everyone.
I would hope folks will show up to all court proceedings to keep pressure on the authorities not to plea this case down and support the family. Here on long island,Abate is actively involved in any court and proceedings and strong showing keeps the courts on their toes. And you know these pos will have support in the courtroom. If you live in the area, try and be there.
I have been a criminal defense attorney for over 20 years. I can promise all who read these forums that there is absolute truth in these words. Prosecutors are very moved, impacted and swayed by actions from the public, such as these. If people from the community showed up at the hearings, pleas and sentencing....... and made the fact that they are there and present obvious.... it can have a HUGE impact on how the judge sentences the defendants. Showing up only on the sentencing day will do very little. At that point, all the deals have been cut, and the papers need little more than to be signed. Show up at EVERYTHING!!! Make a nuisance of yourself. Let the bailiffs know exactly why you are there, and ask the bailiffs to convey to the prosecutors your support for the victim. This, and ONLY this, can truly impact the outcome.
This is a murder robbery case, depending on the evidence and the strength of their case, there is little wiggle room to be had, a deal may very well be cut, but even still it should be a very long sentence, even if it is a determinate length one. We can only hope that investigators are able to dot all the "I's" and put them away for a very long time. And it is my prayer for these people, that they make the most of their time, and become productive inmates, and maybe even hear Gods call. most of all having great remorse for what they did.

No disrespect intended.... And I mean this sincerely.
But this could not be farther from the truth. Sentencing guidelines are quite liberal. And the fact they have yet to be convicted of anything........ yeah.

I'm starting to get the same feeling...
thanks DK for sharing
this world sure is small when you get to thinking about it...

First of all, No disrespect taken!! We OK! I do know that in Cali, conviction of robbery/murder is only two sentences, life without, and death. Winning your case is getting 25 to life, and in a robbery murder case, it is indeed rare. All this is upon the understanding that they get convicted of such a charge, depending on the evidence, and strength of their case. So I guess it will boil down to specific state laws which I am not well versed in other than Cali. As a defense lawyer, You are my friend!!!
