This is the kind of place I look for when traveling.

Just like anyplace there is bad areas you want to avoid but I've never considered this one of them. It is terrible what happened but a random crime of opportunity can happen anywhere.
After looking at it I realized I stopped and bought gas at the station next to the Sonic last year. I was on my way home from a business trip to Atlanta, My boss and her husband rode their bike out with me. We had been rained on since leaving Paducah KY. It had finally dried out and I wanted to take my rain suit off so we were there for a bit,(my boss and her husband are slow as molasses to begin with). My impression based upon the patrons and traffic at the gas station was that it was a depressed area. Local traffic seemed to consist of beater vehicles, meth heads and thugs that morning for the 1/2 hour we were there.

That is a great idea. Hopefully some people from the cycling forums will be able to attend the arraignment proceedings even if it is a short proceeding.

Public sentiment and an 'in court presence' often makes for a huge impact, I believe. Thank you for the suggestion.

Log on to PP, click on 'send money to friends and family', put the email provided in the box, choose an amount to send by clicking the '$0.00', and send a note with what forum you're associated with along with whatever else you want to say.

This is provided you have a PP account. If not, it's free to join. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll try it. I'm at work and maybe some of the page doesn't come up. I can put the address in but there are no other boxes available.

Thanks again.

Hey Nevada,

You're right about that! Mary & I are still grieving, but we have begun to move on to celebrate his life!

The following pics are ones we posted in another thread, but I think they belong here too, so I'm copying and pasting them here.

*********************************

I told Mary about Larry. We talked about it, we decided to dedicate this years trip to his memory.

We started the trip in the Ozarks, meeting up with Larry and the crew that we have ridden with for many years.

If you look back earlier in this thread you will see pics from Day 2 & Day 3. Here are a few more pics of Larry from those days-

Always a smile!

Relaxing & enjoying the camaraderie and ride.

Candid shot-

Pit stop-

Larry enjoyed riding, & was...

...a kid at heart.

He always had a smile, time to talk, and strong but gentle spirit.

More in next post.

I can't remember the first year we met and rode together, but I've never seen him anything but happy, and was a friend from day one. We are still in shock.

Larry, John, & Gene-

At age 66 Larry had manage to preserve the child-like joy that comes from the simple things in life, and he loved to ride & wasn't inhibited about showing it!

Day 4-

The above pics were from Day 2 & 3. Day 4 it was John, Gene, Larry, myself & Mary that went for a ride. The following pics & video are from that ride.

Leaving the Hub. John is on his FJR, Gene his Gold Wing, Larry his Street Glide, and Mary & I are on our Tri-Glide.

We did not know it would be our last ride with Larry. He generally liked to ride drag, but today we told him we wanted to ride sweep so that we could take pics & video of him.

One of the roads we rode that day was AR123. Here is a short video of just a small bit of that road.

Here are a few pics of a perfect day of riding with friends on a perfect road-
