Thank you. If this thread, Mike's misunderstanding, is real this could be the reason. In post #1015 he included a video of some roadracers. I'm not sure what that was supposed to accomplish except that since he couldn't see the front wheels turned away from the direction of the curve, it would prove his point?

Which gets back to my earlier comments/posts, and which he must not understand, the 'counter-steering' referred to in this thread means only a few degrees from straight. Not the full lock of speedway racing. Perhaps that is his difficulty with sweeping turns, which he didn't explain? He expects a 'counter-steer' to be something 'grandiose'?

I included that video because I want to analyze what those racers do when they enter a turn. Also I think it is cool.

So what did your analysis tell you about your difficulty with sweeping turns? I see you are in Texas, I have found it is also 'cool' to ride an off road bike in the desert.

Watch this video (right after it starts) for the riderless motorcycle. The bike does not stand up, it keeps its lean.

I think this is what is meant by a "stable lean".

I think Mike is taking awhile to get over the fact that he thought the steering torque used to create friction on the front wheel while navigating a corner sometimes requires torque opposite of the turn as part of counter-steering. While that is steering in the opposite direction of the turn it is not part of the maneuver deemed "counter-steering" which is momentarily steering to the outside of the turn, before you enter it, to initiate the lean of the bike to the inside. He may have found other people who are convinced of the same thing as him but someone needs to shut this thread down before his misunderstanding of the motion of counter-steering and the maneuver called counter-steering leads some other poor sap to believe the same thing and add his evidence as arguement is some other thread or board.

You know they say a picture is worth a 1000 words.

Steering, counter steering, or what ever you want to call it, should not be thought about, it is something you do to operate a dad-gum motorcycle. There is no need for any more discussion, or argument. This is all i have to say on the matter.
