That is not quite correct. You turn you handle bars to the right to lean left and then you turn your wheel to the left to go left. There is both a counter-steer and a steer in the action. The idea that you only steer your bike by counter-steering is an old wives tale.

Soooooo, you didn't go ride this weekend like you said you would. I'd love a video showing you performing the maneuver you've just described above. Maybe bwoltz can run the camera. If you don't kill yourself on that pass, trade places with bwoltz, you deserve to ride together. Just please give us all a heads up when you hit the road.

If you have a push mower with only one blade, you will notice the engine puts a rotational torque on the whole machine opposite of the direction of the blades. If your blades spin clockwise, you do counter-clockwise-steering.

If you have a riding mower with two blades, they sell a kit that makes one blade spin counter-clockwise, and the other clockwise. This eliminates the need to counter-clockwise-steer.

Maybe you should re-take the LSF class and bring a pencil this time.

Here is his post

All counter-steer does is upset the balance of the motorcycle/rider so it falls over. As the motorcycles falls, you turn into corner to balance the centrifugal force of the turn with the horizontal force caused by the offset of the CG from the tire contact patches.. This is all simple physics and balancing of horizontal force vectors to keep the bike from falling over or high siding."
He is correct at slow, walking, speeds. When riding faster the motorcycle 'falls' away from the corner due to centrifugal force. If either of you actually rode a motorcycle you would both know that. bwoltz mistakenly posted something that doesn't work/actually happen when riding faster then walking speed. Only a troll would keep referring to it without any actual experience/knowledge.

You keep saying that but these pictures do not support what you have been saying

I also gave you a whole bunch of pictures of motorcycles in fast turns. Here they are again (about 100 of them)

https://www.google.com/search?q=lean...w=1195&bih=807

Why don't you film what you are talking about and post the video. As you say, you cannot tell anything from a still photograph.

The direction this wheel is pointing seems to contradict what you have been saying and support what bwoltz is saying. Frankly, this picture makes sense. I love this picture.

I love this picture too. Look at this picture and then go back and read what wboltz said about the Center of Gravity(Cog) at this link https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...l#post15618214

I must have made his ignore list. That or he is trying really hard to not give up his trolling character, that's already been blown by just about everyone here.

You cannot look at a picture and know what counter-steering is. It's impossible. You cannot learn to ride a motorcycle by reading about it in Wikipedia. You have to actually ride. Something that you obviously have no experience with.

Your opinion on the subject is therefore useless.

If you did not just take my words out of context you would have known that I said the exact same thing. Here is a full quote of what I said

In an academic sense, your opinion is useless as well because you are not familiar with the technical concepts.

Just got back from a nice Fall ride along the Mississippi River. The temps were cool and the colors a little past peak, so no pics, but there WAS counter steering! I think. I hung 5 lb ankle weights off of each handlebar to make sure I was counter steering the whole way, so I'm pretty sure I nailed it.

Anyway, you fellas have done well! Or this rube is just so enamored with himself that any kind of negative feedback merely opens the door for more proselytizing. As has been mentioned, he's either the most self absorbed brain dead newby to grace our forum in a long while, or he is a Troll God. Not sure which way I'm going. But I have to say, rarely have I seen such stamina!

Counter steering fail - Not enough downward bar pressure.

I bet his mommy is glad he keeps his *** in the basement so she doesn't have to listen to him tell her how to cook, clean the house, steer the auto and all the other skills that she may be lacking.
