FWIW I have never had any luck with cleaning the grey on my 1200N.

Maybe S100 will work?
(I have tried many other products, including most listed above, to no avail)

I can add, if you drop oil, wax or any fluid onto the grey color, remove it right away.

I also believe Harley sells a spray can of textured grey paint for a color match/ repaint if need be.

Good luck.

S100 spray; let sit for ten min; hose off; let dry
then follow-up with HD Engine brite spray - done. Go riding!

I was a Big Fan of S100, reg & gel, for years, should have bought stock in the German Co.! I have custom Sun Spoke Aluminum Wheels, everything stains them! Then I discovered Simple Green, my wheels shine, spray & rinse, I couldn't believe it, as Good, if not better than S100, for 1/10 the money!

Simple Green and a stiff bristle brush.

S100 works, but it's much more expensive than Simple Green. It also streaks if you don't use enough rinse water.

Muratic acid. You didn't hear this from me...

Too many bad things can happen with this...

I used to clean the cases on a BMW boxer with muratic acid. Absolutely nothing worked better. You have to be very careful. The acid must be thoroughly rinsed immediately after application or it will streak.
