Weather man
Saturday morning my husband and I left the house around 10 on our bikes and rode untilthat afternoon. Before leaving, I checked the weather and they said rain was predicted for nowhere in our area. Well, they were right. Around 2:30 we were out in the middle of NOWHERE and the bottom fell out! Rain, lightning, strong winds.....and nowhere to hide until we were thoroughly soaked! We finally found a school and pulled under the entrance awning to wait out the storm. My husband said he'd love to have a picture of me wringing the rain out of my socks! LOL We went home, changed clothes, took an hour nap and were gone again. We finally got back home at 9 Saturday night. I experienced it all Saturday! Hills, twists, turns, straightaways, rough roads, smooth roads, WET ROADS, heat, idiot drivers, animals in the road (dead & alive),daylight,darknessand LOTS of rain!
All in all it was a great day and a great ride. Logged almost 200 miles. It's the longest I've rode since taking the MSF course 3 weeks ago. But, I'll surebe glad when I get my windshield installed so I won't feel like I'm going to get blown off the bike at 60 mph.
And yes....I am now looking for a good rain suit!!!

Forget listening to a weather man. Just go to accuweather.com and check the radar for rain near your route. It's not bullet proof but will give you a real good idea if you should see any precip on your ride.

I've decided that the "accu-WINDOW" forecast is a better predictor! LOL Seems it caught a lot of riders by surprise. There were a lot of wet riders on the road that afternoon!

Just keep rain gear on the bike at all time. I have just start doing this myself after being rain on the last couple times. Summer time and rain goes together. Have a nice ride.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to get good quality rain suits that aren't super-expensive?

My guess is not many people actually look at radar. I think they look at weather.com or the news. It's habit for me since I do it for flying. But like someone else said.....carry rain gear and it won't matter.
