I don't know anything about cams or how they work. I can tell you that one time I hooked up my horn and reversed the wires. It didn't blow anymore but it did suck.
Will 94 FLSTN run for 7 yrs with camshaft upside down? I had dealer replace primary seal last year and it just struck me as maybe a SCAM as of late. I also now sometimes hear a metallic clack on cold starts that quickly dissipates but I upgraded the tappets to get more oil to top end, so why the clacking after upgrade (they also installed new pistons and rings) THANKS!
Moving to Australia should restore the cam's proper orientation

Every other revolution of the engine the timing marks are 180 degrees off. The cam turns at half the speed of the crankshaft in a 4 stroke engine.

I did the same thing. The only way I noticed was when I pushed the horn button, it got real quiet.
Seems like this is a real thing that could be fixed by some "Lister's Carbolic Unguent" on a wad of cotton, a "balsam specific", tightening the "curative galvanic belt" or by adding some Smeckler's Powder to your oil.
