Default Help!

I own a 2009 flhtcu Electra glide ultra classic. I am supposed to go riding tomorrow with a small group of friends. Today I detailed my bike and took to off trickle charge. Had to replace my battery as it has gone bad on me, fortunately under warranty. As I was installing the new battery I cranked up the bike to get the fuel pumping before I got the seat back on and the wiring set in place under the seat. As it started up and I began to move the wires and put the seat back on the bike lost idle throttle and stalled out. As I cranked it back up, the wires moving around I found that it gained idle throttle back but the actual throttle didn’t work at all on the handle. I got it working as I put the seat back on but why would t do that. Should I be worried not to go riding tomorrow?

Sounds like your battery connections are loose.

it almost feels like the computer board on top of the battery is shorting out- the battery cables are on tight

The bike stayed on but had zero throttle until I moved the wires back overtop of the battery

Did you try narrowing down which wires and/or harness you were moving that was causing the problems? It may just be a loose connection. Covering up the problem won’t make it go away.

Take a deep breath and relax after detailing maybe water got in a connection take it back apart and check all the connections something is loose I would also use dielectric grease on every connection including the one on the left side of the throttle body

What I was thinking.

Op, get it running and move one wire at a time till the motor wants to die. Note it. Then keep going on all the other wires. The marked ones are the ones you need to look at. Once that is done, check over the rest to make sure they all are good. When done, while it is running, move the wires. Hopefully it does not fail.
