Default Air filter laws?

Bike : 2018 Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight Special
My question / concern is that I'm ready for my first "parts" purchase witch would be a fuelpak tuner and intake kit. I'm digging the Tc brothers intake kit. However my question / concern is.... is it legal to ride like this. Or by law it has to be covered. I'm from Los Angeles. Please help.

In LA, the AC is fine. The tuner, not so much but, I've never had one check for it.

Consult with your dealer regarding the warranty when you install modifications. There lies the problem..

Not just warranty. CARB compliant is related to California Air Resources Board standards. Any tuner that allows you to diverge from factory EPA / CARB lean settings is illegal in California.
Not sure about Fuelpac but, if the website says "not for sale in CA" you have your answer.

ETA: Looks like they have a version that is CA legal with severally limited capabilities. Might be okay for a simple stage 1 though.

CARB compliance and the EPA is your problem - Good sold in California unless I am mistaken will have a brand on the box that says 'This product is not for legal use in CA.' or something like that. The mfg of the part can tell you if the part is certified.

That setup is technically illegal everywhere in the US due to the crank case venting into the atmosphere. That said, nobody's going to do anything about it. There's no smog or safety inspection for motorcycles in CA.

They don't care what goes INTO your bike, they only care what comes OUT of it.
