Been checking out some YouTube videos about the Red River Rally in New Mexico. Says its been around a while. Its new to me, course I'm no world traveler. Looks good with lots of beautiful surrounding scenery. Anybody got any knowledge your willing to share? How's the rally in general, and how's the riding in that area? Is it worth a 1200 mile road trip?
Never been to the that rally but have ridden around Red River a fair amount. Lots of beautiful riding in the area. The town is very small but has a nice mountain western feel. Taos is close and a nice ride just down the road. Not sure I'd do 1200 miles to attend the rally.
Red River, Eagles Nest, Taos, Chama, etc. Lots of good riding in the area, and not far to Colorado. Go for the riding, the rally will be a bonus. Just remember that the weather is very unpredictable that time of year. You can plan on rain at some point and as chopperbill stated, even snow.
It's a fun, small rally but not really worth the 1200 mile ride. As stated in the other posts, plan on visiting other attractions in the area to make it worth while.
I go every year.
I usually spend one night in Taos.
The loop from Taos to Red River to Eagles Nest to Angel Fire and back to Taos is a great ride.
You should stop in at the Viet Nam Memorial in Angel Fire.
I don't think I would ride 1200 miles to get there but If it is on your way to somewhere else, I wouldn't pass it up.
I'm only a couple of hours away so I could easily do it as a day ride if I wanted to.
It can get a little cold up there.
I haven't been in years, but Red River is a great rally. Tons of great riding. Gotta bring every piece of leather and clothing, you'll need it. Higher elevations you'll be putting everything you have on, ride down below, temps come up 30 degrees and you're pulling over and pulling everything off.....
