This is a question about using the HD App on my phone not HD Built in system. have been considering a dedicated GPS to plan and follow specific routes. This generally doesnt work with Google Maps or Waze as they always reroute to easiest fastest route to waypoints. Question is- Does the HD Ride Planner app take you on your exact planned route when you use the navigation feature in the app? and if it does, does it allow for skipping waypoints and send you back to your route if you go off route? It seems easy to use but i want to make sure it works like a GPS or I will have to buy one.

Not to be a grammer/spelling geek, but what's a "Hauilt"?
I think he means 'built', likely a typo
When I create a route and load it into the system, I set a LOT of waypoints, not just the specific ones I want, that way it has no choice but to follow my preferred route.
I've used an app called CoPilot for some trips. After you put in your destination, you can tell it to used certain roads so it goes where you want instead of Googles fastest way. It downloads the maps to your phone, so you don't need cell service to use. You can also set up routes and save them on the app. I did that before I left for a trip out west, then each day I just pulled up that day's map and started riding to all of the sites I wanted to see.
I always use the HD ride planner for planning out trips. Saves maga time on the ride not needing to follow maps at every intersection. Usually by the time I go i already have a decent idea of the route in my head anyway. I always carry paper maps as well as a backup. So adding many way points on the ride planner will ensure you stay on your preferred route. You need to zoom in close and make sure your way point is actually on the road because during your ride it will tell you to prepare to go off road etc. Using google maps etc will take you the fastest but you cant add way point to go your own way. I I do think you can then use your phone with the HD App to pull up your ride after you create it on the ride planner. I have a 2012 CVO and still use the Garmin Zumo. Seems im stuck in the past with the old stuff i guess. If you use the ride planner enough it works well but it does have its quirks and im sure people will chime in and tell me of all the betters ones out there like base camp etc.
