I kept waiting for someone to mention updates to engine, suspension, electronics from the previous year but it never happened. They didn't even address the obvious fairing and bag updates that were CVO-only last year. And the website isn't much more informative. It seems like a real missed opportunity for HD that potential customers have to rely on third-parties to learn about their products.
Yeah, it is a carryover. That isn't my gripe. I just find it ridiculous that it costs as much (If you opt for RDRS) for a carryover RKS as it does for an updated, full fairing, full infotainment, bigger displacement bike, that has RDRS as standard equipment. The RKS should be a good four grand lower in price versus the RG and SG. Even if it had the wet head 117, it still wouldn't be priced right. The RG and SG have way more "stuff", for almost the same price as a stripped down RKS.
At this point, it wouldn't surprise me if they dropped the RKS next year, and only offered the Road King Police model.
I am in the same boat as I got 2022 RKS and seems like you might be right they are probably killing this model completely. I wanted RK classic but couldn't bear going backward from 114 stage 2 on my Heritage to 107 RK so I went with RKS and now adding all RK classic accessories to get the best of both worlds..I considered SG at the time and price was secondary in my considerations I just liked RKS more and I love this bike but feels like they are abandoned this model and price wise now this completely doesn't make sense. No one will buy RKS now so it will die slow death.
I predict a mid year CVO release of the RG and UL with the new fairings followed by the new fairings replacing the old on those models in 2025.
Yeah the model line up is in a really interesting spot right now. I did check the accessories for the new RG and SG and noticed there are still no offerings for lowers. I am not sure who would buy a old style 2024 Ultra given what they can see in the same showroom on the new bikes. Same goes for the trikes. Dealers are going to have fun trying to offload 2023 models now given the new model RG and SG actually cost a few thousand less than the previous Specials and just a thousand more than last year's base model when you factor in that in 2023 abs, rdrs, and the surcharge, took a base model to near 25k.

Thats what the sales manager said too then I walked him over to the 117 that has the same redesigned cam cover and electrical connector coming out. He was stumped but thinking about it now it could just be a cam position sensor.

Yes, cam cover is the same for VVT and non-VVT engines - just limiting number of parts between models. I've watched walk-around on YT for regular RG and guy pointed out that same cover but only on 121 CVO models there are embossed VVT letters.

that engine gaurd doesnt have anywhere to put lowers so no point in offering them and i would absolutely take the old style ultra over the new hot mess.

I think the radiator thing and all that "bulk" on the front end of the frame, left them no choice but to scrap the lowers. Personally, I love my old RG with lowers. It's incredibly comfortable to ride year round. Rode to work this morning in the mist. Comfortably.
