Hello all. \\; I recently bought a 2008 FXD Super Glide. \\; I went through a couple of Hondas, and a Kawasaki in my younger years, spent a decade or so not riding for various reasons, and now that I've relocated to the Southwest felt it was time to get back on the road. \\; Love the bike, but here's the rub: \\; Now that I'm an old man (48) the wind blast seems to be getting to me - never noticed it as a pup - and so I never used a windshield. \\; Now I'm thinking about getting one. \\; Any opinons on how well they work? \\; I'm looking in particular at the Super Sport Detachable (pt# 57300-06). \\; Will I simply be moving the blast off my chest and onto my nose? A buddy of mine says the shield on his BMW 1100 works OK but buffeets his head around. \\; Any feedback woud be greatly appreciated.
Did I mention that this bike sounds a hell of a lot better than my Hondas ever did - go figure, right?
Windshield will cut down the wind from your face down unless you're tall. \\; The detachable windshield is easy to get on and off, too. \\; I take mine off around town but on the highway, it goes back on.
I'm 52 and  \\;couldn't live without my detacheable windshield on my Super Glide. If I'm doing the highway thing, it's the only way to go. On Bike Night's or rallies I remove it and go "naked." \\;
52 next month fatboy without screen and love it.
I used to find screens on some bikes make more noise. 80mph cruising with no screen is fine except for bugs.
As I get older I am finding myself using the windshield more often. Gets me on the bike sooner in the spring and off it later in the fall. The wind does still come up under the shield.
I tried to reply and lied about my age so it wouldnt let me! \\; Get one that you look through not over. \\; They dont make your head bobble, great wind stopper. \\; And Im uh \\; 32 - yea!
